SkySpecs launched the world’s first completely autonomous blade inspection product in 2016 with a custom-designed drone system. Since then, SkySpecs has inspected over 160,000 wind turbines in over 31 countries, becoming the world leader in understanding the health of turbine blades. Identifying issues with turbine blades is only the first step. In 2019, SkySpecs launched Horizon to be a platform for SkySpecs to offer a multi-layered solution for customers that includes: data collection, wind turbine blade engineering expertise, and a place for all stakeholders to collaborate to manage and analyze massive amounts of data, spot trends, and create plans for high-cost repair campaigns. Since 2021, SkySpecs has acquired three companies specializing in wind turbine drivetrain monitoring, financial management and automated turbine data analytics and fleet optimization, further expanding our offering in the market. Ultimately, this will help reduce the cost and risk of operations for the industry.

What will I be getting myself into?

You will join our Product Delivery Team as a technical project manager in our blades services division. You will work with our team and customers to leverage expertise and industry-leading tools and technology to support the ongoing Operations and Maintenance cycles of wind farm owners and operators. You’ll be able to design the right solution based on understanding the needs of our customers, creating a scalable blade management program capable of mitigating blade risk across the fleet.

As a Technical Project Manager you will:

  • Work together with customers and align with the strategic account managers to deliver consulting projects and ensure successful completion of all Tech Enabled Services
  • Lead projects from start to finish ensuring all deliverables have been met. Including the planning, resourcing, scheduling and execution of project tasks.
  • Communicate to all stakeholders and collaborate with department heads to achieve a common goal
  • Develop a deep technical knowledge of all SkySpecs’ blades product as well as a big-picture understanding of the challenges our customers face and the technologies and methods needed to solve those challenges
  • Oversee and monitor the day-to-day completion of tasks to ensure the highest quality and most efficient methods are used
  • Prioritization of tasks for multiple customers on a variety of projects and identifying and troubleshooting problems as they arise
  • Provide feedback to internal Product Management on ways to automate workflows and improve efficiency in Horizon (SaaS platform) and the services offered
  • Learn about the renewable industry (wind) and apply these learnings to customer needs and challenges

Requirements of the job:

  • BA/BS in Business, Engineering, or another technical/analytical field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in project management
  • Experience in software services, data analytics, implementation, or technical analysis work
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycles
  • Strong analytical skills including data preparation, cleaning, processing, exploration and visualization
  • Expertise using business intelligence tools such as Sisense, Tableau, and/or Power BI to perform analysis on large datasets to drive business value
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to manage distributed teams across multiple locations and time zones
  • Customer-focused with a self starter mentality

Bonus points for:

  • PMI or relevant project management and technical delivery methodologies based on system and software development, scrum methods, etc.
  • Experience working in renewables, specifically in the wind energy industry
  • Engineering or business management consulting experience
  • Startup experience
